Vintage Crocheted Whimsical Heart Pillow with Flower

I simply love this pattern! The peaks of the heart are purposely not the same size so the heart appears as a person would draw a heart on paper.
This pattern is super easy, easy enough for a beginner. You can change the size of the heart pillow and flowers by changing your hook size or yarn weight. I love to work with worsted weight and bulky yarn.

greenpurpleheart

For the green heart/purple flower heart pillow I used a worsted weight yarn for both the pillow front and back and the flower. Hook size I/9-5.50mm for the Heart pieces and flower.

whitecrocheted heart

For the white on white heart pillow I used a soft off white worsted weight yarn for the front and back heart pieces.  For the flowers I used a bulky off white yarn with bits of tan to give the pillow a very soft vintage type look.  (Yarn I used for the flower was  Lion Brand, Heartland thick and quick, color Acadia.  Hook size I/9-5.50mm for the Heart pieces , K-101/2-6.50mm for the flowers

Assembling:

Please note: If adding crocheted flowers, sew on the crocheted flowers to the front heart piece before joining the 2 heart pieces together.

Join both hearts by single crocheting around the edges (working through both pieces)

You can use same or contrasting yarn. Starting with the un-worked stitch in between the Heart peaks.  Once you have worked half way around the heart start to stuff with craft stuffing- Use the blunt end of your hook to get the stuffing  down into the tail of the heart.

Continue to sc until the heart is completely sewn together.

For the loop, make a chain until you have the desired length of loop. Join to the back with a slip stitch

Large Crocheted Flower:

Chain 60,chain 3 and turn

Double crochet across all stitches

Go in second stitch under both loops. All stitches should be done going under both loops.

6 double crochet stitches in the first stitch (go in second chain)

skip 1 stitch, sc the next stitch

skip next stitch , 6 double crochet stitches in the next stitch

** repeat until you have repeated this pattern across all 60 stitches
